WHO WE ARE
The London Food Coalition (LFC) is a collective of 24 nonprofit organizations working together to collect and redistribute food in London, Ontario. Our members represent shelters, meal programs, food banks, Indigenous organizations, and other community groups dedicated to building a more equitable and sustainable food system.
Founded on the principles of collaboration, dignity, and community care, the LFC was created to address the growing need for a coordinated response to ensuring food equity and responsible distribution so that good food is available in abundance.
WHAT WE DO
Every week, the London Food Coalition collects up to 10,000 pounds of surplus food from local grocery stores, farms, and suppliers — food that might otherwise end up in landfills. This food is sorted, stored, and redistributed to our member organizations, who ensure it reaches people in need across the city.
Our refrigerated truck, operated by our team and volunteers, is the heartbeat of this operation. From the early morning pickups to final delivery, we keep food moving and ensure it’s handled safely and efficiently.
Beyond logistics, the LFC also advocates for food prosperity — a future where everyone has access to the food they need to live healthy, dignified lives. We believe that redistributed food is not a band-aid — it’s part of a broader shift toward sustainability, equity, and respect for the land and those who grow our food.

You can help end hunger!
Did you know that in 2021, 15.9% of households in the ten provinces experienced some level of food insecurity in the previous 12 months? That amounts to 5.8 million people, including almost 1.4 million children under the age of 18, living in food-insecure households. When you donate, you help feed your neighbours in need.
